Root Canals
Are Common

/

According to the American Association of Endodontics, over 15 million root canal treatments are performed each year. The frequency of this procedure has given our dentists extensive experience providing root canal treatment. Our dentists can effectively remove the infected pulp, clean and disinfect the inner tooth, and fill and seal the tooth.

Signs You May Need a Root Canal

Our dentists are highly trained at diagnosing and treating tooth infections. A root canal can be necessary following tooth damage, a cavity, or even issues with another dentist's work.

You should reach out to our team if you are experiencing:

  • Extensive oral sensitivity to hot or cold
  • Severe pain when biting or chewing
  • Chips or cracks in your teeth
  • Darkened or decayed gums
  • Tender or swollen gums
  • Pimples on your gums

Saving Natural Teeth Is the Best Solution

Many root canal myths lead patients to believe that the process is painful. Decades ago, that may have been true, but thanks to many advancements in dentistry, a root canal is now a virtually painless procedure.

Another common misconception is that extracting a tooth is simply the better option. Though our tooth replacement options are robust, nothing beats saving your natural tooth or teeth. Doing so will help ensure you keep your natural look, chewing ability, bite, and sensation.

Saving the tooth also removes the need to stress surrounding teeth by relying on them to support dental restorations. Opting for a root canal instead protects both your teeth and budget since tooth replacement options like dental bridges or implants are far more expensive than root canal therapy.

Great experience overall. They will save what you think is a ruined tooth and they will do the best job. I have never had a dentist be so gentle with caring for me, nor do such a strong root canal! They guarantee their work as well so long as you get your cleanings there etc.

Affordability

/

Root canal treatment is already more affordable than other alternatives. Dental insurance also typically provides coverage for a root canal. To help with any out-of-pocket costs, we accept financing through CareCredit®, provide a membership discount, and offer a Zelle® payment discount.

The Root Canal Procedure

Our dentists can save your tooth in a single appointment.
Our dentists can save your tooth in a single appointment.

Preparation

Our dentist uses precise digital X-rays to examine your teeth. They then numb the treatment area with local anesthesia. The last preparatory step is the placement of a protective sheet that isolates the tooth and keeps it clean during treatment.

Cleaning

Our dentist opens the crown of the tooth and uses specialized instruments to remove all the infected pulp from both the pulp chamber and the root canals themselves. The cleaned-out space is then shaped so that it can properly hold a filling.

Filling

Your root canals are filled with a biocompatible material and sealed by our dentist. Some patients do not need an additional restoration, but we can provide an immediate crown following treatment if necessary.

Take a Closer Look at Root Canal Therapy

When bacteria enter the tooth chamber and infect the pulp, our dentists can access the inner chamber through the crown of the tooth, remove the infection, and reinforce your tooth with a filling. There's no need to familiarize yourself with an endodontist at another practice. We can handle everything right in our office.

After Your Root Canal

There is no need to worry about an extensive recovery period after receiving a root canal. Though some prefer to take a day off for their procedure, many patients feel ready to return to work or school directly after leaving our Orlando, FL, office.

After your procedure, you can expect oral numbness for 2-4 hours. During this time, you should not eat. It is also normal to experience swelling, but this should subside after a few days. It is still possible to get a cavity after a root canal, so regular checkups with your dentist are recommended. Our dentists will advise you about the best way to avoid cavities and other potential problems.
